On 5 and 6 June, partners and stakeholders from across Europe came together in Ireland for the Welcome Works in-person meeting. Over two productive days, representatives from Ireland, Poland, France, Spain and Denmark shared ideas, exchanged good practice and strengthened their shared commitment to supporting the integration of newcomers through employment and community engagement.
The meeting brought together a strong partnership with a common goal: to help newcomers, including refugees and migrants, build pathways into work, develop confidence and feel more connected to the communities around them. Through open discussion and practical collaboration, the group explored how inclusive workplaces, targeted upskilling and meaningful local engagement can make a lasting difference.

A key focus of the meeting was the role of employment as a route to inclusion. Access to work is not only about earning a living. It also helps people build new networks, gain a sense of purpose, use their skills and contribute to society. For newcomers, this can be an important step in rebuilding stability and creating a future in a new country.
Throughout the two days, partners reflected on the progress of the Welcome Works project and shared learning from their own national contexts. Each country brought valuable insight into the challenges newcomers face when entering the labour market, as well as the opportunities that can be created when communities, employers and support organisations work together.
The discussions were practical, thoughtful and full of energy. Partners explored ways to create more inclusive workplaces, support skills development and encourage stronger links between newcomers, employers and local communities. The meeting also provided an important opportunity to strengthen collaboration within the partnership and plan the next stages of the project.
The Irish meeting was a reminder of the power of European cooperation. By bringing together different experiences, perspectives and areas of expertise, the Welcome Works partnership is helping to build more inclusive opportunities for newcomers across Europe.
A huge thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making the event such a success. Your ideas, energy and commitment continue to drive the project forward.
